A mother blessing ceremony is about the mother-to-be (or mother-to-be-again). She is celebrated by her closest girlfriends and confidants. It’s intimate and homemade, and time is spent honoring the relationships the mother to be has with the people she loves and trusts. There are many different rituals that can be performed, or it can be less structured and just an informal gathering with the focus on the mom.
The point is to honor her journey and give her support, love, advice, hold space for her to reach the end of her pregnancy adventure, her labyrinth of labor, and her transition into Motherhood.

A baby shower is often a large gathering of people who play games related to the baby, give gifts to the baby, and talk about the baby. Baby showers are wonderful, but they are baby centered and not imitate.
A mother blessing ceremony is smaller and is completely about the mother. The rituals you perform are things like pampering the mom with a foot rub, making her a flower crown, a red thread ritual where all her favorite women in her life are connected to her, letters read aloud to the mom, etc. Every mom is different, so every mother blessing is different. I cater them to the wants/needs of each mother to be.

Every one is different, but each one celebrates the mom for who she is and honors the journey she’s about to take through not only the labor, but the journey into motherhood.
Rituals include: reading letters to the mother, massaging the mother, sharing birth stories or knowledge about birth and pregnancy, writing birth affirmations together, singing together, meditating together, birthing candle ceremony, experiencing a sound bath, continuous yarn bracelet ceremony, and many others.
As your host, we’ll work together to figure out what you’re comfortable with and what will mean most to you. Most people don’t realize that after birth, your life will be divided into two segments—before children, and after. Everything is about to change. This ceremony celebrates who you are and who you will be. I’ll do my best to honor that and cater it exactly to you.
