Interested in a Mother's Blessing Ceremony?
This is a ceremony celebrating the mother-to-be, surrounded by her closest friends and/or family. It is smaller than the baby shower and completely focused on the birthing person.
The goal of the ceremony is to share your love of the mother-to-be with her, give her confidence in her ability to give birth, and to honor her journey into motherhood.
Every mother is different and so every mother’s blessing is catered to what each individual person requests.
Rituals include: massaging the feet of the pregnant person, sharing birth stories or knowledge about birth and pregnancy, writing birth affirmations together, singing together, meditating together, birthing candle ceremony, experiencing a sound bath, continuous yarn bracelet ceremony, and many others.
A note on the terminology: “The term 'Blessingway' refers to a sacred spiritual ceremony performed by the Navajo people to celebrate rites of passage that occur throughout the entire life cycle, and not only the passage into motherhood. They suggested the term 'Mother Blessing' was a more appropriate term for a ceremony that was influenced, and respectful, of this tradition, but not practiced in accordance with the Navajo faith and culture.”
Mother’s Blessing
mother’s blessing sound bath
Sound baths can be deeply relaxing and empowering experiences. The participants “bathe” in the sound vibrations from different instruments. Sound baths can release tension, allow you to let go of fears and anxieties, and leave you feeling deeply relaxed on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
I would join your event and facilitate a sound bath for deep meditation and relaxation. This can be done at a regular baby shower or mother’s blessing.
